“heaven” is a concept open to all kinds of associations: religious, scientific, metaphorical. It is not a coincidence that so many artists have tried to capture it in songs, visual art and literature. h e a v e n o n e a r t h at Van der Mieden Gallery offers questions rather than answers. The group show proposes several visual options. Each have their own meaning and call for different interpretations. What binds all the works presented here, from the dense woods in Rosemary Laing’s photography, over Denis Darzacq’s lady in the red dress, to Dirk Vander Eecken’s abstract spray paint, is a fragility, a sense of uncanniness behind the image.
